Adam Shearer maintains a broad litigation practice, focusing on white-collar criminal defense, government and internal investigations, complex civil litigation, and regulatory compliance. Adam has represented a range of clients, from a CEO of a major US financial institution, to a small-business owner, to a man wrongly sentenced to death row. Adam has helped his clients win at trial, and has helped them avoid litigation altogether by negotiating the best settlement possible before a case is even filed.
Adam represents clients in high-stakes matters involving securities fraud, insider trading, trade secret theft, accounting irregularities, antitrust violations, mail and wire fraud, bribery, money laundering, and pharmaceutical marketing. His practice also includes securities fraud class actions, shareholder derivative suits, and various complex commercial matters. He has conducted numerous internal investigations for a Fortune 200 company, as well as other private and public institutions.
Adam’s trial experience includes representing Robert Bogucki, accused of orchestrating an alleged $6 billion fraudulent scheme against a large information technology company, and helping secure a rare acquittal at the close of the government’s case. Global Investigations Review honored the victory in U.S. v. Bogucki by naming the case its 2019 “Most Important Court Case of the Year.”
Adam founded Rizk & Shearer LLP after 10 years at Clarence Dyer & Cohen LLP, a leading white-collar litigation boutique in San Francisco. Adam previously served as a law clerk to the Hon. Jaqueline Scott Corley and the Hon. Joseph C. Spero, both on the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California. Adam received his J.D. in 2011 from U.C. Berkeley School of Law.
