David W. Rizk serves as lead trial counsel defending businesses and individuals in federal criminal investigations and complex litigation. He leads the defense of clients in a wide range of white-collar criminal and civil cases, government investigations, as well as commercial disputes. David is known as a thoughtful, creative, and aggressive advocate for a diverse set of clients before courts and regulatory agencies as well as out of the public eye.
David has experience working in all corners: on defense for blue-chip corporate clients in telecommunications, antitrust, and securities matters before federal courts; advocating on behalf of public institutions and from within government entities on matters of public policy; and, counseling individual clients, ranging from executives in complex business transactions to indigent defendants charged with serious crimes in court-appointed cases.
David has helped clients from the Bay Area, nationally, and abroad, resolve the full gamut of federal charges, including securities fraud, mail and wire fraud, money laundering, bank fraud, economic espionage, healthcare fraud, false statements, obstruction of justice, passport and visa fraud, aggravated identity theft, embezzlement, conspiracy, theft of government property. He has experience working in an equally wide range of industries, including in AI, crypto, social media, automation, financial services, hardware, pharmaceuticals, health care, and search, to name a few.
David is also known as an active leader in the legal community. He serves on numerous government boards and task forces within the legal field, maintains an active pro bono practice, and is a frequent speaker and moderator on panels within the legal community.
David was formerly an Assistant Federal Public Defender in the San Francisco and Oakland offices of the Northern District of California. He was also an attorney at Keker, Van Nest & Peters LLP, a nationally recognized litigation boutique based in San Francisco. David clerked for Chief Judge Richard Seeborg on the U.S. District Court of the Northern District of California and Judge Jacqueline Nguyen of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. He received his J.D. and Master’s in Public Policy from Stanford University in 2011.
